Why the Name Perfecting Word Ministries?

Perfecting [pur fek-ting] 1. The act of being perfected or the process of being perfected by a process or something 2. Transitioning to the highest degree of a quality, etc

Our assignment is to perfect the people through the perfecting word of God in a prophetic atmosphere. We all called to rejected, bruised and broken. We are called to those that have had bad past church experiences. We are called to the imperfect remnant! We are called to the looked over and the spiritually disadvantaged.

The Perfecting Word Ministries Model for taking people from spiritual infancy to spiritual maturity and from spiritual maturity to upgraded maturity:

1) Perfecting the people of God through prophetic preaching and practical teaching. It is our vision to assist in equipping our growing family of believers to fulfill the destiny that God has planned for them. Through focused teaching in both spiritual and practical areas, we endeavor to provide believers with the necessary tools to fulfill those destinies and to walk in the abundant life that God has promised.

2) We want an “In and Out” approach to growth wherein the Lord has create a climate wherein the people can come in as they are and where they are in life, but get trained in the admonition of the Lord and go out as God has intended them to be:

3) We desire to foster and environment conducive for covenant relationships.

4) We desire to be a church that provides opportunity for equipping, empowerment and impartation.

5) We desire to promote INTEGRITY. We believe that our words should match up with our deeds no matter where we are or whom we are with.

6) We desire to promote accountability- We believe in taking responsibility for both our actions and the outcome of our actions. We believe in being willing to receive correction and direction in both personal and corporate behaviors and actions.

Perfecting’s Historical Prophetic Path

THE BEGINNING

What is now known as Perfecting Word Ministries began as More Than Conquerors Ministries. In 2003, More Than Conquerors Ministries had our first worship service at the First Wesleyan Church (1101 Iverson Street in Oxon Hill, Maryland); 75 people were in attendance at our inaugural service. The initial Core team for the church consisted of 3 families and a many supporters of the vision. In November 2004, Pastor Kinney had to shut the doors of the ministry because he suffered a stroke (and during the same month two years later he suffered another stroke). In 2005, the Lord released Pastor Kinney to re-ignite the ministry flame. Pastor Kinney’s passion and vision for the ministry grew. He saw the need for a kingdom-minded prophetic ministry that would be postured to meet the needs of the people. And so, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, he implemented a shift, and the ministry name was changed to Perfecting Word Praise Church. The shift in name was to embrace and memorialize the new season of “Perfected Praise in 2006.” Since this ministry was birthed, we have had the raw material for greatness. As every ministry does, we to go through seasons of preparation in becoming what the Lord has ordered for our lives.

GREAT BLESSINGS

Through our years, we were blessed by the generosity of: the First Wesleyan Church, Garment of Praise Baptist Church. Tabernacle Baptist Church, Jessie B. Mason School, Mrs. Angelic Dinkins, Suitland Community Center, and Royal Priesthood Temple of Praise to use their facilities for worship services and bible study. The presence of the Lord has always rested heavy at every location. Our kingdom mother the late Dr. Geraldine McInnis has had the most significant impact on the ministry. She was a trusted voice in the life of Perfecting Word and was instrumental in speaking into the life of the ministry and its leaders. Her impartation has left an aroma that will never lift from the vision and the visionaries of Perfecting Word Ministries.

GREAT EXPECTATIONS

In 2008, the Lord changed our name again to Perfecting Word Ministries-“The City of Truth.”
It was also in 2008, that the Lord ordered Overseer Kinney into a sabbatical from pastoral ministry. This was God’s appointed time of refueling, refreshing and re-igniting. In November 2009, the Lord released Overseer Kinney to re-ignite the prophetic flame of Perfecting Word Ministries. A Phenomenal Rebirth! On November 8, 2009, Perfecting Word hit the ground running with 4:00 FIRE services to fulfill the God-given Kingdom mandate. There were close to 100 supporters in attendance. The Lord paved the way for us to worship at Royal Priesthood Temple of Praise and later blessed us with our own place of worship at 7100 Chesapeake Rd in Hyattsville, MD. The Lord is performing His word concerning Perfecting Word Ministries. As we have “cast our net on the other side” (John 21:6) the Lord has been faithful to send laborers to work the vision of the house. He has sent seasoned gifts to hold up the arms of this ministry with their time, talent and resources. We have a great work to do, and we have greater expectations for what God is going to do in and through His ministry, Perfecting Word.

What We Believe

As a prophetic house of deliverance that operates in all of the gifts of the Holy Spirit in power and demonstration, Overseer and Pastor Iris’s goal is to mentor and raise up fledging prophetic eagles to soar into their destinies. Our pastor's vision is to train and equip people to move in the power of the Holy Spirit, not only in the church, but also in the secular marketplace with a demonstration of signs and wonders following.

We Believe:

• The Bible is the Infallible Revelation of God, and therefore is the only authoritative and binding rule of faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:19-21)

• There is only one Living and True God, manifesting Himself in the three Persons of the Trinity - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - equal in every perfection and executing distinct but harmonious offices in the great work of Redemption. (Matthew 3:16-17; 2 Corinthians 13:14)

• The Deity, Virgin Birth, Sinless Life, Death, Physical Resurrection, and Ascension of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ - that He is the very God and Creator of all things! (Luke 1:26-35; 1 Peter 1:18-21; Luke 24:1-7; Colossians 1:12-17)

• Man can only be forgiven and cleansed by Grace through Faith in the shed blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. (Romans 3:9-26; Ephesians 2:8-9)

• In Salvation, only through Jesus Christ, by Believing in Jesus Christ and Confessing the same coupled with a determination to REPENT (to turn one's self around from sin), and follow Jesus Christ! (John 3:16; Romans 10:9-10; Acts 3:19)

• In Water Baptism by Immersion, not as a means of Salvation, a rite, a merely external ritual, or a "sacrament," but as a voluntary act of faith and obedience by a believer in Jesus Christ, having first repented of sin (Acts 2:38). (The original Greek word for baptism in this passage is "baptizo," meaning "to be dipped or immersed.")

• In Sanctification and Holiness, as fruit of Repentance, following a believer's commitment to Jesus Christ - being set apart from the world, and leading a holy life, under the Lordship of Jesus Christ. (Romans 12:1-2; 2 Corinthians 7:1)

• In the Infilling and Overflowing Baptism of and by the Holy Spirit, which includes the supernatural Gift of Tongues as evidence of the initial Infilling, following this work of God in a believer. (Acts 2:1-4; Acts 19:1-6)

• In Accepting and Encouraging the Nine Gifts of the Holy Spirit, including Healing, Prophecy, Words of Wisdom and Knowledge, Discerning of Spirits, and Speaking in Tongues as the Holy Spirit gives utterance. (1 Corinthians 12:1, 7-11)

• In Praise and Worship, in Prayer and Song! Believers are encouraged to whole-heartedly express vocal Praise and Worship, unto and before the Lord, in corporate assembly, and also individually in private. (Psalms 148, 149 and 150)

• Our Lord gave the Great Commission to His Church to evangelize the world. (Matthew 28:18-20)

• In the personal and imminent Second Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ - first to come for His Saints; then with them to rule and to judge. (Acts 1:9-11; 1Thessalonians 4:16-17; Revelation 19:11-16)
